The 2020 Bangor "Fix it Up" Raffle is being sponsored by, and organized by the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor (the UUSB), a non-profit religious organization located at 120 Park Street, Bangor, Maine.
All proceeds from this raffle shall be used to support the religious and community programs offered by the UUSB.
Purchasing of tickets:
Tickets/entries may only be sold, purchased and redeemed by adults (18 years of age or older).
ALL MEMBERS OF THE UUSB, the Raffle Committee, and the UUSB Council are explicitly allowed to purchase raffle entries. This is a community fundraiser and too many of our members are involved in this raffle program to be excluded. On January 3rd, 2021, the winning entries will be drawn automatically by the RallyUp service and we, and the winners, will be notified by email.
Ticket sales start on or after 12:01 AM on November 3rd, 2020 and will stop at at noon (EST) on on January 3rd, 2021.
Mailed in payments to the church office will be available and you can check back here for more information as we get closer to the raffle. Checks received after the 12/31/2020 mail is delivered, will be returned.
**Tickets may be paid for by cash, personal check, bank check, money order, or credit/debit card transaction. All checks MUST have “Raffle” in the memo line.
Note, credit/debit card transactions need to be processed directly by the church office or through the online portal.
Raffle tickets, by US law, may not be mailed.
Sorry, no sales to Alabama, Hawaii, or Utah (all forbidden by local state law).
Tickets:
There is no limit to raffle entries for 2020
Ticket/entry cost is:
10 entries for $10 US
25 entries for $25 US
50 entries for $50 US
100 entries for $100 US
No facsimile or copies of tickets will be accepted.
The IRS takes the position that no portion of the ticket/entry price will qualify as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.
Drawing:
The drawing shall occur automatically via the RallyUp service at 12:30 PM on January 3rd, 2021.
Winners and non-winners will be notified by email at approximately 2:00 PM on January 3rd 2021.
Person drawing: Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are keeping the raffle entirely online for this year. The drawing will be computer generated from the eligible entries.
Winners need not be present to win.
Winners and winning ticket numbers will be posted on the website no later than 5 days after the drawing date.
Any second chance raffle draws will be determined and awarded at the raffle drawing on January 3rd, 2021.
Forfeiture of ticket rights:
Ticket holder misrepresenting themselves, including their age, and upon inspection do not meet the minimum criteria to legally purchase tickets will forfeit their claim to any winnings.
Winning ticket(s) whom the UUSB Raffle Committee cannot contact and who do not contact the office by the end of the 14 day period, will forfeit their claim on the winning ticket and the next runner up will be awarded the prize.
Payment failed.
Payment by check was returned for whatever reason as failed and not corrected by date of the drawing.
Payment by credit or debit methods was returned as failed and was not corrected by date of the drawing
NOTE: Failed payments are still owed to the UUSB as promises to pay.

Fix it Up
Each option’s total value, including any delivery fees and taxes, must be less than $5,000. The UUSB Raffle Committee will work with the winner to coordinate the prize implementation.
Plans and purchases must be completed no later than 5 months after the raffle drawing so the UUSB Raffle Committee can complete the raffle. All work/purchases, etc. must be completed no later than 8/31/2021.
The UUSB Raffle Committee is not responsible for accommodating requests that are not possible within the time frames required. For example to have a specific contractor do work who is booked out 2 years in advance. Or to purchase an appliance that is backordered for 12 months.
The Fix It Up Winner is entitled the following prize options:
Any combination of services, materials, or appliances up to but not exceeding the $5,000 total prize. If the cost of the services, materials, or appliances exceeds $5,000, then the UUSB is only liable for the awarded amount.
Any unused portion of the prize remains the property of the UUSB for use in furthering its programs.
No part of the winnings will be provided as cash or equivalent.
The Fix it Up Raffle winner may transfer the winning chance to any other legally able person before or after the drawing date. All other rules will apply to the new winning chance holder.
This raffle is suitable for homeowners OR renters. For example, a renter could have a furniture makeover or get new appliances.

Winner Responsibilities:
Any and all winners are responsible for any and all tax implications for winnings associated with this raffle. The UUSB will not withhold any tax payments associated with this raffle. Any winner receiving a prize equal to or greater than $1,000 will need to provide an IRS W-9 to the UUSB office, as well as clear identification such as a license, passport or state ID.
For any work requiring building permits or compliance with any building codes or ordinances, the winner assumes FULL responsibility for said compliances and any permit fees.
Winners will be posted on our website, along with details of their project. So expect something like "The [insert name] was able to do a garden makeover at their [town] home and planted over 2000 tulips!" or any similar thing.
The UUSB is not liable for any loss, injury, death, accident, theft, illness, or other misfortune of any nature whatsoever incurred during the fulfilling of this raffle. By accepting the winnings or any portion of the Prize, the Winner releases UUSB, its employees, trustees, agents, and attorneys from any and all obligations to the Winner and any and all claims or causes of action that may exist against UUSB, known or unknown, as well as any such obligations, claims, or causes of action arising from the Winner’s acceptance of the Prize. The UUSB makes no warranty whatsoever, express or implied, with respect to the prize.
Winners will receive an IRS W-2G, report of winnings, for use in their tax preparations.
